Road Rage
Rust never appears at youth
like quick laughter and innocent brilliance do
Age discovers that daily time borrows
bread from banquets to replace shimmering events
(if left unchecked)
Time blows in without direction and
smears like cold butter across routines
Urgency becomes a useless device
appearing as a checkmate
(in a chess game of one)
Driving no longer has a sense of urgency
which drives the urgent driving youth mad
